Pain de Lodeve

Dear Friends,

We've found that since I got back from the bakery course at the French Pastry School in Chicago, many people have been asking for special orders for bread and whatever else we made during the program. So this is what my wife and I have come up with.

Instead of fulfilling a bunch of random, small volume orders, I will make one amazing product every other week. I will say orders are
due one day, and the bread can be picked up another day. That way, over time, we can all enjoy delicious artisan breads.

This week, I'm doing Pain de Lodeve, one of the most amazing breads I've ever had. Two different fermentations styles, along with whole wheat flour and a hint of sourdough, gives this bread incredible flavor and aroma. They're going for $4 per 1 lb loaf.

So if you live local (the Salt Lake Valley) and you appreciate delicious breads, place an order today! Orders are due Wednesday night by 9 pm, and they can be picked up Friday after noon. (It takes several days to make.)

If you're not able this week, stay tune for the next project that will happen in 2 weeks.

Thanks, friends!

A Smattering of Cakes

Just in case you wanted to see what it is that Devin and I have been doing cake wise, here are a few pictures so you can see for your self. Devin has more of them on his computer, so there may be more to come. But here are the ones that I have. Enjoy :)

An 80th birthday cake for Devin's gramsie. This was the first really big cake we did. We haven't done another that big since. It was about 300 servings! This had a beer-spice cake with peanut butter frosting, and a white cake with lemon curd.

Voyage of the Dawn Treader cake for my niece Chloe. The ship is made of fondant and modeling chocolate. Mexican chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream.

X Box cake for a friends birthday. We are really proud of this cake. The controllers are rice crispie treats. Freaking awesome!
Chocolate, chocolate cake and frosting.

This penny cake was for a little Lincoln's 1st birthday. It is a fondant cut out that I carved the face into. Our yellow cake with almond frosting

A Bart Simpson cake for a cousins surprise birthday party. Red velvet with vanilla buttercream.

My mommy's wedding cake. My sister did the banner. This was a chocolate orange cake with an orange marmalade filling. Pretty much heavenly!!

The first attempt at a topsy turvey cake. It was for a party for our son. The angle is a little intense, but I think it turned out pretty alright.  Yellow cake with an almond buttercream.

The second attempt was much more successful. This is a coconut cake with coconut buttercream and coconut on the outside. Yeah, it didn't suck.

I am really proud of this cake. It was for a baby shower for one of Devin's co-workers. It was adorable! Pound cake with a raspberry buttercream.

That is what I have for the moment. As you can see, we love challenges and we make some really fun cakes! Don't hesitate to let us make your next cake!

Help a Brother Through Bread School

Hey friends! So here are some particulars with the cakes:

The basic 9" round, 2-layer cake is an even $25. (Serves 20.)

Basic cake flavors include (but are not limited to):
White
Yellow
World's Most Amazing Chocolate
World's Most Amazing Red Velvet

We generally use an Italian buttercream frosting for the cakes. It can be flavored any way you want.

If you need anything bigger with tiers, fondant, ornate fillings, and such, just send a message, and we'll talk! Just remember, we can do EVERYTHING!

Thanks for your help and support!
